BB SEATON & THE GAYLADS BIO

Delano Stewart, Harris Seaton &   Maurice Roberts   started with Clement Dodd’s Studio One in 1964. They recorded songs like, “Brown Skin Gal”, “Gal & Boy”, “No Body’s Business”, “You’ll Never Leave Him”. They recorded their first hit single “Lady with the Red Dress” in 1967.    A series of hits like “You Should Never Do That”, “No Good Girl”, “Chipmunk Ska”, Africa”, “Stop Making Love Beside Me” , “Give A Helping Hand”, “Your Eyes”,” Message To My Girl”, “Love Me With All Your Heart”, “Red Rose” , “Falling In Love”, “Who Will You Tell Your Lies”, “Slipping and Sliding”, “Peculiar Man”, “Don’t Say No” & “Put On Your Style” followed including two albums “Soul Beat” & “Gaylads Sings Folks”.

At Whirl Records: They gave us tracks like “Joy in the Morning”, and “She Want It”.  Tip Top Records: “Hard To Confess”, “I Need Your Loving”, Over The Rainbows End”, “ABC Rocksteady” , Beverly’s Records: There’s A Fire”, “Soul Sister”, “My Jamaican Girl”, “We Three Kings”, “Tell The Children The Truth” including the album “Fire & Rain”,  Upsetters:- If You Don’t Mind (I’ll Wear My Slanders), Soul Beat Records: “Can’t Hide The Feeling”, “Falling In Love”, “Funny Feelings”, Whey She Do Now”.  

  

The Gaylads became major hit makers in the late 60’s for Coxsone Dodd’s Studio One label. (Lady With The Red Dress, You Should Never Do That, No Good Girl), Leslie Kong’s Beverly’s Records (Soul Sister, There’s A Fire, My Jamaican Girl, We Three Kings), Sonia Pottinger’s Tip Top Records (Hard To Confess, ABC Rocksteady, I Need Your Loving) and other top Jamaican producers. After going their separate ways each has had considerable success: Delano Stewart had many hits for Pottinger such as (That’s Life, Stay A Little Bit Longer, Rocking Vibration), Maurice Roberts joined but the Thaxter Brothers, maintained the group name for some time before changing it to Psalms, best known as Bunny Wailers backing harmony group. BB Seaton for the past fifty years has composed, produced and performed successfully his original material both in Jamaica and in the UK.

We have added two new members, Harold Davis from the Sensations group who replaced the late Maurice Roberts, and Denis Spencer who has replaced Delano Stewart.

To date, The  Gaylads   has  six albums  to their  credit , “Soul Beat”, “The Gaylads Sings Folks”, “Gaylads  After Studio One”, “Seal Of  Approval ”, “Fire & Rain”, and "The Gaylads Ska Days".

They achieved the IRWMA (International Reggae World Music Hall of Fame Award) in 2007 for their achievement in reggae music. In 2015 they received the Citation and Lifetime Award from the JARIA (Jamaica Reggae Industry Association.
